EMDR Therapy

Someone asks you for a favor—again—and before you’ve had a chance to pause, you hear yourself say yes. Almost immediately comes the sinking feeling: Why did I say yes again? Later, you’re exhausted, irritated, and quietly resentful.

You may find yourself working hard to keep others comfortable, staying on high alert, or taking responsibility for things that aren’t yours to carry. The cycle repeats, and you feel stuck.

For many people, patterns like this are connected to trauma.

Trauma can develop in different ways. It may come from a single overwhelming event—an accident, sudden loss, or frightening experience. It can also come from repeated harm, such as emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. Sometimes, trauma comes from what was missing—like safety, connection, or consistent support growing up.

No matter the source, trauma can leave your nervous system feeling as if the past is still happening.
It may show up as:
-
Persistent anxiety or tension
-
Feeling numb, detached, or disconnected
-
Hypervigilance, irritability, or anger
-
Avoidance of certain places, memories, or conversations
-
Self-blame or confusion about what happened

It can feel like your body is reacting to something that isn’t happening anymore—even when part of you knows you are safe.

In our work together, we don’t force healing.

We slow down.

We begin by building safety—in the room, in your body, and in the present moment. I approach trauma with deep respect. What you’re experiencing isn’t a flaw; it’s your nervous system doing its best to protect you.

EMDR
When you’re ready, we may use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to support deeper healing.
EMDR helps the brain and body process experiences that feel stuck or frozen in time. Rather than reliving the past, you begin to relate to it as something that has already happened.

This work is always paced carefully and collaboratively. We focus on helping your nervous system stay grounded while gently processing what feels overwhelming.

Healing from trauma isn’t about erasing your past.

It’s about reclaiming your sense of agency, reconnecting with your body, and creating more space to live in the present.

Over time, what once felt intense can begin to soften. The nervous system settles. And you may find yourself responding to life with more clarity, choice, and steadiness.

We move at a pace that honors you—
with grounding,
with care,
and with support.
