About Sonya

I hold space for others in trauma and grief through connection, authenticity, and slowness.

Healing requires safety and patience — the freedom to feel whatever is present, whether that is sadness, anger, confusion, or uncertainty.

In therapy, I make room for emotions and learn new ways to relate to them, especially for clients who were taught that certain feelings were unsafe or unworthy of attention.

Together, we build tools for navigating life and emotional experience while reconnecting with strengths that may have been overshadowed by past trauma.

My personal journey informs my work. I was a caretaker for a woman as she transitioned from life to death. Though I knew her for only a short time, the depth of connection and unconditional care changed me. I grieved profoundly after her passing and initially struggled to understand why the loss affected me so deeply. Over time, I recognized that grief reflects love and human connection. Sharing that experience with others opened space for their stories and healing. It continues to guide my approach to grief work — honoring loss while exploring meaning and the ways we carry love forward.

I also experienced a late diagnosis of ADHD, which helped me understand patterns that had shaped my life: challenges with focus and executive functioning, feelings of being overwhelmed, and the tendency to push myself in ways that didn’t honor my needs. This awareness brought compassion and insight, allowing me to reframe experiences that once felt like personal shortcomings. It deepened my belief that understanding ourselves is a powerful step toward healing and growth.

My call to trauma work grew from recognizing how past experiences can shape beliefs about worth, safety, and capability. Like many, I learned to prioritize others’ needs and minimize my own. Therapy and self-reflection helped me understand how these patterns developed and how they limited my sense of agency. Now I am dedicated to helping clients explore and heal similar patterns — reclaiming their voices, emotions, and sense of self.
